Now get your minds out of the gutter, nobody actually joined the Mile High club in this episode :) Reviewing because [livejournal.com profile] 803am bullied me into it, although she might regret it once she reads it.

There were some brilliant bits in this episode but in terms of the season, this was my least favourite so far. Not sure why it didn't gel for me, I think because there was a distinct lack of overall con. As adorable as Hardison and Parker were, their respective cons didn't work for me, they stretched my ability to suspend disbelief. Also, if you're a low budget show, you do NOT do episodes that require that much CGI because it'll suck. Seriously, that plane landing? LAME!

That said, there were bits that had me giggling hopelessly. Parker as an air stewardess on its own was priceless but her safety speech was fantabulous. Hardison.....bwahaha! First of all being late to the party and then being busted twice by Nate. "Are you sitting at my desk?" *babbled denials* "....oh, and don't forget to turn off MY computer..." Lovely :) Oh yeh, and you know Hardison was totally responsible for Nate's aliases, right? :D Tom Baker indeed!

Major kudus for the bathroom fight scene, that was awesome. I gather they had to build an overly large bathroom to film that but hey, I'll forgive 'em that one because it was totally worth it. A nasty, vicious little fight, reminiscent of Bond and whatisname on the train in From Russia With Love.

I think my biggest bug bear was the case had so much potential in terms of emotional investment in the victims and yet somehow that all got lost the minute the episode became bottled up on the plane. There was also too much hand waving over the fine details - I'll happily accept one or two "HEY! LOOK OVER THERE" moments of fudging details, because as John Rogers points out, it's a 42 minute show, they can't show everything and also, sometimes, you need to blip over the details to tell the story. But for this episode, I felt I spent the entire time going "OK, he's running a meeting and no-one knows who he is....*HAND WAVE* Parker's not raised any red flags as a stewardess...."HAND WAVE*.....etc.

But it's worth pointing out that I watched the whole thing raptly, I didn't fidget and I'd watch it again, so even an episode where I can't quite bring the squee is still damn good television and that's an indication of a freakishly good show.

I like this new winter TV schedule but oh boy, THREE of my shows now air on Thursdays. I think I may leave Bones (Sky should start broadcasting it again soon) and just concentrate on Private Practice and Burn Notice. And eee! Burn Notice starts again tomorrow. Yayy!
