Tracie Thoms was in an episode of Human Target this week, not a show I've been watching although [livejournal.com profile] halcyon_shift has pitched it to me as highly recommended. Loved the episode, Tracie was excellent (and it may be a repeat role, we'll have to see), all of which led to this exchange via AIM:-

MitchFC: Oh!! Talking of tv shows, I watched Human Target last night cos Tracie was in this week's episode. I think I've fallen in love.
halcyonshift: I'm guessing you have other things to keep you occupied. Like catching up on Human Target, for instance. See, you don't believe MEEEEE, but Tracie Thoms you believe *sulk* :P We were watching that and I was, like, "And Mitchy just had bats going all, 'man, that's high-pitched'" ....

I'd deny it, but I'd be a liar :D

Tracie was fabulous.

More than worth flying 3400 miles and catching 3 trains to see. Again :)

Didn't get to meet and greet this time but it didn't matter.

*contented happy squeaking*

I'm all squee'd out. She was all kinds of awesome :) If anyone wants me, I'll be over there, beaming like a spotlamp.

Gods, life is good.

So at obscene o'clock tomorrow (I have to be at Heathrow for 6.30am) I shall be jetting off to NYC, where I will take a series of trains and finally arrive in Baltimore.

This is because...

I'M SEEING TRACIE THOMS IN CABARET ON FRIDAY!!

WOO HOO!!

Pity [livejournal.com profile] jenni411. She's joining me in Baltimore.

On Sunday night, I fly home again, this time with a [livejournal.com profile] jenni411 in tow, arriving at obscene o'clock on Monday morning. As it's a Bank Holiday, we have no plans except to attempt to fend off the jet lag, for verily and forsooth, I am driving us both down to Cornwall on Tuesday, where we shall spend 4 days in the tender care of [livejournal.com profile] halcyon_shift and [livejournal.com profile] doccy. A trip to see the Eden Project is on the cards, as is a lunch at Rick Stein's Seafood Restaurant in Padstow. Nom!

Saturday is going to be insane as [livejournal.com profile] jenni411 will have a 4 hour car journey back to Heathrow where she has a late afternoon flight home to NYC. At least she's being chauffered at both ends of the trip, because I suspect consciousness (or lack thereof) may be an issue :) Unlike me, she can't sleep on planes. Which also means she'll have to listen to my snoring on the flight out. *shakes head* She's a trouper! Anyway, from Heathrow, I'll head on home and pass out, leaving me to enjoy Sunday before trudging back to the salt mines.

Should be oodles of fun!

I should be online on and off so expect occasional squeakings :)

Eee! Watched Private Practice this morning before work and saw Tracie Thoms. She was GREAT! I'm biased, I know, but she was! It was a good, meaty role - a woman who had been raped and was now pregnant by the rapist - and she had some fantastic scenes with Amy Brenneman. What was lovely to watch, was not only Amy giving Tracie great support in her scenes, but Tracie returning the compliment in a gut-wrenching scene for Amy's character, Violet.

[livejournal.com profile] thessalian is totally getting this episode inflicted on her tonight.

Eeee!

*bounce*

In other news, there is a big Admin Review at work coming down the pike next week which is making me a smidge nervous. They're going to be looking at how Admin resources are used, peaks and flows of work, that kind of thing. I have been strongly reassured that my job is secure, but beyond that no-one is actually sure what the outcome of the review will be or even what the aims are. Hmph. Will have to wait and see, I guess.

Apart from that, work is ticking over nicely. Earned some brownie points on Wednesday by typing and emailing a document at top speed to my line manager at a very important meeting. Coming from an admin background, I am always surprised when people think typing 2 sides of A4 is a long, difficult task :P I may not get to do the level of copy typing I used to but by crikey does using the internet a lot pay off in keeping up your typing speed and accuracy :D

My Season 2 Big Bang Theory DVDs arrived this week, just beating the postal strike. Yay! I watched a fair few of these while staying with Mary in NYC but I have no problem watching them again. The gag reel is so hysterical, I've watched it six times already. [livejournal.com profile] thessalian heard the hysterical laughter the first time I watched it, from outside the flat and through several walls and closed doors *sheepish*

This week is not my favourite week in the calendar (Mum's birthday yesterday, anniversary of her death tomorrow) but I'm doing ok. Laughter, Tracie squee and snugs from friends help a lot :)

Now I must slurp this tea and find some work to do. Yay Friday!

She's going to be on an episode of Private Practice this month! Gleeeee!! A) It's awesome sauce anyway B) I love PP C) Exposure on another prime time TV drama where she will really get a chance to show her acting chops for a change is fantastic for her and D) Tracie squeeee!!!

*bounces about happily*

Yes, I am a mad fangirly, your point?? *stern glare*

PS: With Taye Diggs in the main cast anyway, Idina appearing on PP last season, Tracie this season, I have high hopes we'll get the rest of the Rent cast on PP before the show finishes airing :D (OK, Rosario's unlikey but Anthony Rapp or Wilson Jermaine Heredia would be perfect :) )

Have you ever really looked forward to something, spent ages imagining all the ways it could go, and then the actual event was something of a let down?

That DIDN'T happen to me yesterday. Instead, it exceeded it so far beyond my expectations, I was close to tears.

I was the only one waiting to catch Tracie after the show and I shook her hand and explained I'd come all the way from the UK to see her in the play. And she flipped, and was in shock and I got hugged to bits and she signed the play bill and hugged me some more and posed for photos and we walked out of the theatre together and talked and hugged once more and then she left and and and....

SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!

I spent most of the evening in a happy daze :) And I still feel that way this morning. It was awesome and Tracie is adorable. Mary got some fantastic pics which I'll post up when I get home (she's gotta email 'em to me first) so stand by tomorrow for more squee, a slightly more coherent version of events (verrry slightly) and pic spam!

I WAS HUGGED BY TRACIE THOMS!! EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!! *runs around, flailing like an over-excited Mitchy*
