Had a fabulous evening last night seeing Fa's Cheap Flights tour yet again (this is the 4th time in the past 14 months I've seen 'em!). Unlike the Udderbelly show I saw back in September, this was the full gig, at nearly 2 hours. It looked like the ladies were really having fun and it is so good to see Liza Pulman back in the line up, although I really, really liked Sarah-Louise Young.
"Cheap Flights" was the best song of the night. Dillie had barely got into the second line, when she stopped because people were attempting to clap along. "We've rehearsed this for years and I don't recall seeing any of you there!!" she roared, convulsing the audience completely. She also got a serious attack of the giggles, which prompted Liza to ask if she remembered the note she needed for the song. "All I can think about," Dillie replied, "is that your nieces are in tonight and I've sworn in front of them again!" *pause* "And yes, I've forgotten the bloody note!" *stomps back to piano, bashes key, tries to sing the song again* The audience let her get two lines in and then started clapping along.
"Oh VERY funny Cambridge! SOD OFF!!"
At which point Liza got the giggles too! And the audience kept giggling which kept making them giggle. It took two more attempts for them to get through the whole song!
(An aside -
kelemvor! I think I've worked out that line that's not correctly subtitled on the video. "Now I don't know if you've tried locating Stanstead on a map. But checking in at 5am is a feckin' load of crap. IT'S A BANJAX if you try to catch a train or underground! So a taxi to the arse of the world was more than £100!")
I also had a lovely meal before the show - I went to Agora at The Copper Kettle Cafe. Lovely meal, very reasonably priced and one of the best pots of tea I've had in a donkey's age. I would be happy to go there again.
