Scribblings from the Mitchy Side

A while back it was revealed that many supermarkets were no longer stocking 100w bulbs under pressure from the government to push energy saver bulbs. I was Displeased by this, as I have a flat with two rooms with no external windows plus a lounge with an off-centre light, thus requiring a high watt bulb to illuminate the murkier corners. There was Mutterings about governments and nanny states and who were they to tell me what I could use in my own home chunter chunter whinge moan complain.

Well I had to bite the bullet recently, having used up my stock of 100w bulbs, so I moped around the shops, looking at options. I managed to find a 20w low energy bulb, which is supposed to be the 100w equivalent. I put it in the lounge light this week and, umm, actually it's bloody good. I'm thinking I might even get away with a lower watt as the light is more than bright enough. Apparently low energy bulbs have come a long way since I last used them and I will be interested to see what the next lowest wattage bulb is like. If it's as good as this, I'll move this one into the very dark hallway and get another 20w for the bathroom :)
