I have had better Friday's, although there were one or two bright spots.
The bad stuff:-
PartyGirl wasn't in when I got into work this morning, which was a surprise because it was our office Christmas lunch today and PG loves that. We do a Sekrit Santa thing and PG loves handing out the presents and opening hers and generally thoroughly enjoys herself. So no PG bouncing around the office was a worry. And then I hear she's phoned in and her Mum, who'd gone down to Bournemouth for a Christmas event, had had a stroke and was in hospital. :( She came into the office, for about 30 minutes later on, to help finish off some printing that needed doing, and while she was there, her hubby phoned to say the hospital had called and were saying the family should go down. Which sounds ominous but it could just be, as we pointed out to PG, that the hospital was advising that if the family came down, they'd be able to see her, which was not what they were saying last night. *crosses fingers and toeses* Hope everything's OK, I guess we'll hear something Monday.
PG not being there really did take the edge off our Christmas Lunch, although we had a decent enough time. But it was more muted than on previous occasions. Not only were we missing her, we were worried about her too.
Way too much work to do and only one Mitchy. It's that time of term when we send out the funding forms and assorted notes for the NEG claims next term. 13 stacks of paper, all of which need to be collated and stuffed into an envelope and sent to 476 nurseries. *topples over* Barely scratched it this afternoon, even with NoNicknameYet's help and I was there until 5.30. Bloody phone kept ringing and I had to sort out loads of messages from lunch (see the Good Stuff). Still, I'll have help on Monday so hopefully, even if PG doesn't make it in next week, it'll get done.
Didn't get paid again today, because Manpower are wankers. See earlier rant about that.
The Good Stuff:-
The Christmas lunch was good, the food was excellent :) I had a smoked haddock and spring onion parcel for starters, followed by beef casserole with roast potatoes, followed a HUGE bowl of apple and raspberry crumble with (not quite enough) custard. Oooof! Was soooo full! Didn't stagger back to the office until gone 3pm :P We left at 12pm :P Which explains the 13 messages on the answerphone and the stack of phone calls that came in when we got back.
I got a £10 W H Smith's voucher from my Sekrit Santa! *beams* The Bourne Ultimatum is going to be mine, oh yes.
There's another Christmas bash on Monday afternoon, a much bigger and posher one, that cost more pences. While I could nicely do with not being out of the office again, I am looking forward to it, the menu is excellent :) And more people than just our office are going, it's a CSF Finance organised thing, so it's half of County Hall. Should be good :)
It's Friday! Yay!
Was in a great Changeling scene tonight; the other Changeling players continue to make me laugh like nobody's business and sceneing with them is always a hoot.
Great Sunday lined up, two huge football matches to watch - Chelsea v. Arsenal and Liverpool v. Man Utd :)
Neither Good nor Bad:-
I have to crank out a Bones story for the Yuletide challenge thing. Luckily I have two excellent betas lined up and most of the story is in my head already, I just have to get it on the page. Hopefully, I'll get most of it done tomorrow :) Sunday, I might be...distracted :D
