He lives! He lives! He marries Ginny and has kids and they go to Hogwarts and Ron and Hermione get married and have kids and it's great! And the fandom is going to explode over who lives and who dies and why and what for and it may well break the internet!!

OK, I'm calmer now. A more coherent review will have to wait until I've absorbed it all but a few scattered thoughts.
I loved the book, loved it. Yes, there were bits I will doubtless come back and argue fiercely about or criticise later but I read it pretty solidly for six and a half hours without noticing the time going by, which is always a sign of a Good Book. There may be outrage later over who didn't make it (Fred, Lupin, Tonks, Hedwig) but I'm okay with it for now. I may even, looking back, grumble at certain things that weren't really explained in clear English, but for now, I'm happy enough that Harry and most of my favourite characters survived and that the final battle was all anyone could have hoped for. And Harry was a Horcrux! Hah! Knew it! And Snape got redeemed enough that Harry names one of his sons Albus Severus! Hah again! Take that, Snape haters. One major gripe? Draco never really got what he deserved, dammit.
There is going to be Outrage in certain sections of fandom, I suspect, about the final pairings, about how the character deaths were handled (I suspect the Lupin/Tonks deaths in particular will attract huge amounts of wank). But at the end of the day, JKR has done what she promised she'd do - wrap up the story of Harry Potter. Gosh yes, there's stuff that could be filled in - she has left plenty of options for herself if she wanted to revisit - but overall, I'm happy and satisfied with the tale she's told and that's all you can ask of an author.
And now, by golly, I'm going to drink vast amounts of tea and cautiously poke the internet to see what the reaction is. Where did I put that asbestos suit...?
ETA: SPOILERS IN COMMENTS. Be careful, please :)

On the whole I liked the book a great deal, I thought some of the Harry not dying stuff was a bit naff but other than that it was a good end.

I've been poking various websites - goodness, people are being vicious. Stupidest comment I've seen so far? "JKR doesn't get the characters, fandom does". Uhh, she CREATED them, ya moron, hello?
